Jimmy Stoppard (1905-1976) was one of magic's most creative performers. His signature effect, "The Phantom Ray" caused a ball to levitate in a beam of light. The effect was presented the Houdini Award by Mrs. Harry Houdini at the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians Convention in 1935.
